Prawle Fair
Starts 12.30pm to 5 pm
Everything begins at 12.30 pm with the traditional Raising of the Glove, the signal that Prawle Fair is officially underway. From that moment on the field comes alive with the sights, sounds and laughter of a proper village fête. It's not at the village green this year, we ran out of space on the green; so it's at the cricket pitch, parking in the field over the road, so not far to walk.

Local memories of Prawle Fair stretch back well over a century, preserved through stories passed down by villagers. Among those who recalled the fair in its earlier days were John Francis Tucker and his sister Winfred Margaret Easterbrook, born in 1912. They spoke vividly of a time when Prawle Fair was a major event in the local calendar, drawing people from miles around.

Timings
12.30 pm - Raising the Glove, 1pm - Fancy Dress, 1.30pm - Kids games, 2pm - Maypole Dancing, followed by Knobbly Knees, Andsome Ankles, 3pm - Tug of War, 3.30pm - ? , 4.30pm - Rafle and close.
Food and Drink
This year on the cricket pitch we will have local beers and ciders and as ever Pimms. Hot dogs and burgers produced locally as well as Pizza, and the famous traditional Swing Boats and Train, always very popular .
Tea Tent
We love a home baked cake at the fair, so join the ladies in the tea tent where you'll find cakes that all the locals have baked. Sit down for 5 minutes and enjoy you tea and cake while listening to some live music.
Agri Corner
Local farmers will be bringing some animals along for the day, pigs, sheep and a Devon Red. Some of the farmers are also going to dust down thier old tractors for you to look at. We will also have sheep sheering by the Kingsbridge Young Farmers.
Other Stalls
We will have all the normal stalls about the place for you to visit, NCI, Devon Wildlife, Plants, History society, Human fruit machine, Skittles and the childrens tent with games and with face painting. Of course we will also have the famous Swing Boats and Train ride with us as always.
Evening entertainment
The Pigs Nose Inn and Piglet Cafe are open throughout the day and there is also live music during the evening at the Pigs Nose.
Location Change
Wander over to the Agri Corner to meet the animals and admire a fine collection of vintage farm vehicles. Around the field you’ll find traditional stalls to browse, while the Tea Tent will be pouring tea and serving generous slices of homemade cake, the perfect excuse to sit down for a while and watch the day unfold. In the Main Arena, there’s plenty to enjoy throughout the afternoon, from colourful fancy dress to the timeless charm of maypole dancing, along with all the cheerful fun you’d expect from a classic country fair. And of course, no village fête would be complete without some good local food and drink. Tuck into something from the BBQ or pizza oven, and wash it down with a refreshing Pimm’s or a local pint of South Hams ale as the festivities carry on around you.
